Instructions

  1. 1

In a bowl, combine beef slices with cumin, coriander, turmeric, garam masala, and salt. Marinate for 1 hour.

  2. 2

Rinse basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak in water for 30 minutes.

  3. 3

In a pot, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium heat. Add sliced onion and sauté until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.

  4. 4

Add minced garlic and ginger to the onions, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  5. 5

Remove the onion mixture from the pot and set aside. In the same pot, add the remaining tablespoon of oil and heat over medium-high heat.

  6. 6

Add marinated beef slices to the pot, cooking for 3-5 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove beef and set aside.

  7. 7

In the same pot, add soaked rice and 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes or until rice is tender and water is absorbed.

  8. 8

Fluff the rice with a fork and stir in the onion mixture and cooked beef. Mix gently to combine.

  9. 9

Serve the rice bowl hot, garnished with fresh cilantro.
